Questionnaire Evaluation
By carrying out this questionnaire, I have gained much more knowledge as to what the audience want from a music video. As the target audience for my music video is 16-26 year olds I decided to keep the participants of the questionnaire within this age bracket.
After assessing the results I found many interesting things including the fact that the younger generation these days prefer solo artists as a pose to groups as they are seen as quite ‘cheesy’.
The questionnaire was handed to an equal genre ratio at 50:50. This made it interesting as we had equal views from both genders where they both answered pretty much the same things.
It was interesting to see that the lower aged participants were interested in grime and hip hop, particularly the males, where as the older aged participants preferred pop RnB and some even reggae.
This questionnaire has helped very much with the research of my music video as it has enabled me to provide the audience with what they want and make improvements or changes to the things that were not already included.
I was glad to see that when asked what Shani’s interests and Beliefs are, the audience were able to describe exactly how the video has tried to represent her, which meant the music video was a success.

ADVERTS.

This is my magazine advert for 'Shani , Hold Me'. It is simple and striking and because it does not give much information on the album's release date, the audience will be intrigued as to find out when it is out, making them visit the artist's home page for more details.

this magazine advert was done by Ozgen, one of the members in my group. the advert informs the audience of the release date, the official website and also tracks that are featurewd on the album. This advert will atract the audience as it uses stricking colours and big bold fonts that makes the audience interested in the artist's lifestyle.

this is our final chosen magazine advert made by christina. we chose this as our final becasue it has everyuthing we need to advertise our artists. the picture also stands out well and reflects Shani's personality as well as her passion for music.

album cover drafts and final-mrs fisher

Album Covers
Draft 1

Here is the original image I worked on to make my album cover from the photo shoot. The first step into making the album cover was to crop the photo and get a closer view of the artists face. This is show in picture 2.

Picture 2 shows the result of cropping the photo into a close up, concentrating on keeping the artist on the left for the title and artist name to be placed on the right.

The next step was to add text. In picture 3 you can see the font being chosen. The chosen font is ‘Vivaldi’ and gives an elegant look to the name ‘Shani’. I kept a simple, silver like colour to maintain this elegant look.

The final step to making this draft was to adjust the colour placement and contrast. This can be found by going to the image tab, the adjustments, then black and white. By adjusting the levels of colour and contrast, I came up with picture 4.

Final Draft

To achieve the final draft, I expanded on draft 1 by adding a shadow under the artist’s name ‘Shani’. I also made the font colour a little little to avoid a grey looking text.
The next step was to add the title of the song, I did this in the same way as the word ‘Shani’, however I chose a different and smaller font, caramond, placed it in the lower right hand corner and made no change to it. Although it is small, the simple effect makes it stand out thus allowing the audience to recognise it.
With a simple save, the final album cover draft was complete and can be seen in the preview below labelled ‘Final Design’.

Ozgen's Cover

Above is Ozgen's design idea for an album cover for our artist. I thought that it helped represent the artist the best due to the images portraying the type of artist she is and the use of colour that will allow consumers of any age and gender to be attracted to buy this good. Also this album cover portrays how the artist should be seen, the front cover artwork piece is displaying an image on the left hand side which portrays innocence, a sweet young fresh artist and a happy idol for all age groups. From keeping in with the generic conventions of an album cover at the top right hand side i placed the artists name and the title of the song, with a plain and simple font , with a baby pink colour outline, helped make the front of the cover more eye catching and attractive to our target audience.

Christina's Cover

Above is Christina's cover idea for Shani's album. As a group we sat down and disscussed our design ideas to come to the conclusion of whose cover represwents Shani best, and Christina's idea was the chosen one. We chose this as our final cover as it clearly portrays Shani as an artist and what she believes in. the fad effect and colour contrast was what caught our eye most and this is one of the main reasons why we as a group believe this is the most successful album cover.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

WHERE ARE WE NOW?
Market climate, history, heritage, significant trends influencing this release;

We are a new company called OCK Records that are finding unsigned artists with star potential through youtube, myspace, etc. and trying to fit them into the latest music charts, e.g. Hit 40 UK. We have recently signed a few artists of which include ‘AJ’ and ‘Shani’ who both record their songs in a home studio. Both artists write their own music and also do cover songs. Our aim is to have them well known by the public in the download charts by summer 2011.

THE ADVERT CONCEPT

What is it?
Shani is a brand new reggae/RnB artist with currently only one CD featuring 10 songs, some her own, some cover versions, and two bonus tracks. She has already collaborated with the likes of Gyptian, Drake, Sean Kingston and Rhianna. As she becomes bigger, we hope that she will collaborate with more top of the charts artist and become herself part of the ‘A list’, this will be done by the use of advertisements promoting the artist to all types of consumers.

Why are we doing it?
At OCK Records, we believe it is important for artists with talent and star potential to be noticed in the album, single and download charts and make it in the musical industry. Although currently the UK and the US have talent searching shows such as XFactor, we feel that we can find more than one artist at a time that will ‘make it big’ and become successful in the charts and music industry.
