Relating Our video to Goodwin's Theory
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIhNBVvVJ8E

1. Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics
(e.g. stage performance in metal video, dance routine for boy/girl band).

our music video uses a wide range of camera shots, colour, and performance; everything you expect to see in a reggae genre music video.

2. There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals
(either illustrative, amplifying, contradicting).

The lyrics of the song match the video well; At the line of the song "tightest grip you ever get inna your life" the artist grips tightly the sheet she is laying on.

3. There is a relationship between music and visuals
(either illustrative, amplifying, contradicting).

the music is face paced and upbeat which follows the movement of the camera shots generously.

4. The demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artist and the artist may develop motifs which recur across their work (a visual style).
The music video shows many close ups of the artist throughout the music video. This also helps sell the artist making the consumer want to buy into her lifestyle.

5. There is frequently reference to notion of looking (screens within screens, telescopes, etc) and particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body.
The artist is seen through a mirror as she tries on different outfits before going to see her boyfriend, 'Gyptian'.

6. There is often intertextual reference (to films, tv programmes, other music videos etc).
The music video advertises many brand names. These include, Links of London, Tiffany, Converse, Youtube, Microsoft, Samsung and Mercedes.

7. Whether the video is primarily performance based, narrative based or concept based and how elements of each is used in it.

The music video is both performance and narrative based. There is much performance in the video where the artist sings and dances into the camera. The plot of the narrative is as follows:
The music video starts with a busy road with cars speeding down. This is the road Shani later drives down to meet her boyfriend.
As Shani walks down by the river in sort of a blur, this a representation of her going into her fantasy world and thoughts.
She begins by going up into her room and watches her boyfriend 'Gyptian's' music video whos song is which she replied to.
He had previously brought her a tiffany necklace so as she prepares to see him for their date she admires the gift then decides to wear it.
She has a few outfit changes before finding the right outfit like any other teenage girl going on a date.
The performance now kicks in with her singing and dancing.
There is a selection of black and white shots showing her getting into her car and driving off to go to meet 'Gyptian' for her date.
There are more performance shots where Shani is wearing her gift from Gyptian.
The Video then ends with a similar Riverside shot from the start and this is Shani walking out of her thoughts and back into reality.

Image Board-Mrs Fisher

An image board is sufficient in allowing a production of identity, it allows managers and music labels to identify what aspects consumers will enjoy as well as the aspects they will not. This is an image board of what I believe Shani represents. Some of the items included on the image board are as follows;
• Make-up
• Perfume
• Money
• iPod & Headphones
• Cd's
• Sunglasses
• Accessories
• Jewellery
• Phone
• Flowers
• Chiffon Material
The use of the cd, ipod and headphones is to show just how passionate Shani is about her work and her music and that she takes her career in the industry very seriously. As every well selling artist knows, the best inspirations are from previous music samples.

Make-up, perfume and accessories are an aspect of personal image and hygiene. It reflects Shani as a feminine artist that is consistent and caring about the way she is portrayed to her fans and audiences. For an artist following a mainstream perception such as Shani, it is vital that a star image is thought of and represented correctly so that the correct target market is attracted to the artist. By doing this, Shani is also selling and advertising her favourite products to her audience, persuading them to use the same to create her image, thus increasing product sales. Fashion also takes a big part in Shani’s life as it is part of the package to look and dress good as well as to produce the best music.

The representation the money and credit card portrays is success. In any opinion or view money is seen as being successful which what attracts and inspires fans and audiences as they would like to follow in Shani’s footsteps. Having said that, Shani’s intentions are not to promote the fact that money is everything, as she believes family and friend values are much more important.

In conclusion to this my image board has been very successful and has allowed me to gain the views of how I would like to see 'Shani' as an artist in the present and future. It has also given a wider understanding of what Shani is about and how she is represented through her likes and desires.

Questionnaire Evaluation
By carrying out this questionnaire, I have gained much more knowledge as to what the audience want from a music video. As the target audience for my music video is 16-26 year olds I decided to keep the participants of the questionnaire within this age bracket.
After assessing the results I found many interesting things including the fact that the younger generation these days prefer solo artists as a pose to groups as they are seen as quite ‘cheesy’.
The questionnaire was handed to an equal genre ratio at 50:50. This made it interesting as we had equal views from both genders where they both answered pretty much the same things.
It was interesting to see that the lower aged participants were interested in grime and hip hop, particularly the males, where as the older aged participants preferred pop RnB and some even reggae.
This questionnaire has helped very much with the research of my music video as it has enabled me to provide the audience with what they want and make improvements or changes to the things that were not already included.
I was glad to see that when asked what Shani’s interests and Beliefs are, the audience were able to describe exactly how the video has tried to represent her, which meant the music video was a success.

ADVERTS.

This is my magazine advert for 'Shani , Hold Me'. It is simple and striking and because it does not give much information on the album's release date, the audience will be intrigued as to find out when it is out, making them visit the artist's home page for more details.

this magazine advert was done by Ozgen, one of the members in my group. the advert informs the audience of the release date, the official website and also tracks that are featurewd on the album. This advert will atract the audience as it uses stricking colours and big bold fonts that makes the audience interested in the artist's lifestyle.

this is our final chosen magazine advert made by christina. we chose this as our final becasue it has everyuthing we need to advertise our artists. the picture also stands out well and reflects Shani's personality as well as her passion for music.
